Plug and Play at CTIA
This week’s CTIA show in Orlando offered an interesting look at the wireless industry and the applications and devices that are (and will be) available to business and consumer users.
Not surprising was the fact that wireless broadband access was pervasive throughout the sprawling trade show footprint. After all it is a wireless show.
Given the ubiquity of broadband access, it was intriguing to see people setting up “work environments” in the halls of the convention center near standard electric outlets in order to power their laptops and mobile phones.
While the Internet is everywhere and wireless services afford us the flexibility and mobility of access, this capability is only as good as battery capacity of the devices. Otherwise you will find yourself tethered to a power cord in the strangest of places.
